Tobacco Use Education
The Tobacco Prevention Coordinator provides education to communities within our health district on the harms of tobacco use, secondhand smoke, the benefits of smoke-free policies, and cessation.
Tobacco Prevention education can be provided in the form of presentations, educational brochures, and tobacco prevention educational modules at:
- K-12 schools, colleges, and universities
- Afterschool programs
- Town hall meetings
- Churches
- Apartment properties
- Business
- Healthcare facilities
- Local organizations

Breathe Easy Dougherty County
Breathe Easy Dougherty County is a community-based coalition addressing tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure in Dougherty County. It brings together organizations and individuals to assess local trends in tobacco use and create a comprehensive strategic plan to address local tobacco-related disparities. The coalition meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 2:30 pm on Microsoft Teams or in person at the Dougherty County Health Department.
Mission: To educate, advocate, and develop policies to achieve a tobacco-free environment that enhances the health of residents in the community.
Vision: To improve the quality of life for all in Dougherty County by reducing health disparities related to tobacco use.

Breathe Easy Georgia
Breathe Easy Georgia Homes is a program dedicated to promoting smoke-free living in the homes of Georgia residents. Education is provided to property managers, property owners, management companies, and residents on the harms of secondhand smoke exposure and how to adopt smoke-free policies.
Apartment properties that have a smoke-free policy can become recognized as smoke-free property and receive:
- Smoke-free recognition on the Breathe Easy GA website
- Free resources to adopt and implement a smoke-free policy
- Materials to educate residents on the harms of secondhand smoke exposure
- Ongoing support and technical assistance

Tobacco Retailer Education
Retailers that sell tobacco products or objects within our health district are educated on the Tobacco 21 law. All tobacco retailers receive a Tobacco 21 education packet as well as free Tobacco 21 signage to be displayed in their stores.

Georgia Tobacco Quitline
The Georgia Tobacco Quit Line is a free confidential quit program available to Georgians 13 and older, designed to help a user quit smoking, vaping, and the use of all tobacco products. The quit line is available 24/7, including holidays.
