Albany, GA – With over 10,000 reported incidents, Lithium-Ion (Li-ION) battery failures pose a growing threat to our community. In response, the Southwest Health District has partnered with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and NOBLE to host two free training classes: BatteryIQ – Awareness & Operations Response to Battery Emergencies and Lithium-Ion Battery Community Awareness Training.
The BatteryIQ course is tailored for first responders, offering a 4-hour session on categorization, hazards, and emergency response tactics for lithium-ion battery incidents, spanning from cell phones to electric vehicle fires. Through Battery Response Guides, students quickly categorize emergencies, identifying hazards, required protective gear, recommended equipment, and proper emergency tactics.
