PUBLIC CAN CHOOSE WHICH VACCINE TO TAKE

ALBANY, GA-As Covid cases continue to soar, Southwest Public Health District 8-2 reminds the public that all three Covid vaccines are available through county health departments in the 14-county district.

Currently, health departments across the district are administering the two-dose Pfizer and Moderna vaccine as well as the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Those 12 and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine. Individuals 18 and older can choose whichever vaccine they prefer. All Covid vaccines are administered free of charge.

“We believe the best vaccine you can get is the first one available to you,” said Dr. Charles Ruis, District Health Director, regarding which vaccine individuals should choose. In this surge, the vast majority of positive cases, hospitalizations, and deaths from Covid are among the unvaccinated.
